10 Double Standards Within Society

There are many double standards within society, based on gender, sexuality, race.

1. Men's vs women's breasts!
Men can walk around topless for ANY reason, but if a woman does, even to FEED her baby, she is looked down upon by a vast amount of people. Women's bodies as a whole are much more sexualised on the whole too; a woman's face during orgasm can't be shown on TV, but a mans can.

2. Straight men flirting vs gay men flirting
Did you know the fourth most common fantasy within straight guys is to receive oral from a guy? A straight guy can flirt with a girl and it is seen as acceptable, but if a gay guy flirts with a guy who turns out to be straight, the straight guy usually finds it weird. Did you know? There used to be a legal defence for murder called the "Gay panic defence". Basically, you could murder a straight man for being hit on by him.

3. When boys do better than girls in schools, it is down to feminists to make it more equal. When girls do better than boys in schools, Governments try to change things to make it more equal.
The government don't seem to care when girls are underachieving, only when boys are. Girls usually mature quicker, work harder, revise more, and are less disruptive—of course they will learn better!

4. The news focuses on white people more than non-whites.
Whenever a white teenager goes missing, it is all over the news, but when a non-white person goes missing, you hear about it once, or not at all.

5. If a girl wears "boys" clothes it is seen as acceptable, but if a boy wears "girls" clothes it's seen an unacceptable.
This is related to sexism. It is seen as ok to want to be like a man, but not ok to want to be like a woman. (I know both are looked down upon to some extent!)

6. Black people are much more likely to be found guilty, and given a harsher sentence, than white people.
The legal system is very middle class, middle aged and middle minded (and white!) so the further you are from this image, such as a different skin colour, the more you are penalised.

7. Single mothers are looked down upon, single fathers are praised.
Because women are not allow
ed to be independent. People also seem to think the only reason single mothers are single is because the man left, but guess what? Not everything revolves around men.

8. Men that don't pay child support get sent to prison/fined, but nothing happens to women who don't allow visitation.
Some men may be unable to pay their child support, but still want to see their child, but some women don't allow visitation, stopping all contact.

9. Gay "campness" versus straight "manliness"
If a gay guy is camp, sometimes known as "gay-acting", they are looked down upon for "flaunting their sexuality". Nobody judges straight guys for being manly, or "straight-acting".

10. Crime in white celebrities and crime in black celebrities
If a white male celebrity often does things illegal, commits crime and is generally bad, they are labelled a "bad boy" and fetishised in a way. If a black male celebrities does anything illegal or bad, they are labelled a thug, which has tonnes of negative connotations behind it.
